I was born on October 17th 1956 in Demonte, a small village nestled between the mountains of the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, in the northwest of Italy. I spent my adolescence grazing my knees while playing football, then I moved to Cuneo where I attended Grammar School. It was in that environment that my passion for everything that surrounded me grew up, from progressive music to visual arts, even though the small province dimension has always been a limit to such a growth.
I graduated as an Architect at the University Politecnico in Turin, and I worked with lots of passion for over twenty years then, when Nicolò and Alice were born, I thought it was high time I started to celebrate life in a different way, that is following my desires and my passion regardless of mere profit, ambiguity and compromises that were always on in my job as an architect. It is at that point that I wished to widen my horizon by looking at new artistic languages, which are just apparently away from architecture. There is nothing left butthe utopia of the imaginary, the dream of a coloured, joyful, provocative landscape. I have recently started teaching visual arts which I believe, together with music, are the only subjects that can transmit and feed the most uncontrolled passions, through high flights and headlong falls. I have decided, without wearing the artist clothes, but simply being an artisan of the colour, to pass on my search of emotions through the use of different colours and materials, with the illusion of giving new birth to a cloth, to a wall or to an old newspaper page. |
